Servoy Professional Services Overview
About Servoy Global Services
Servoy Global Services (SGS) is a wholly owned division of Servoy that can help you develop your custom Servoy solution. By combining our experience with your ideas, standards and infrastructure, your custom solutions will work the way you do -- on-time and on-budget.
Buy vs. Build
When built with industry standard technologies by experienced developers, custom applications can be developed quickly, and are easy to maintain. Compared to the cost of vertical market applications, with expensive up-front customization costs and recurring licensing fees, a custom application is often much more cost-effective. In addition to the greater return on investment, developing a custom solution means you get the functionality, features and benefits that your particular business needs.
When considering the "buy versus build" question -- keep in mind that once the new solution has been developed, it will need to be maintained, updated and changed over time; and end-users will need training on the new system. It's in these areas that a custom-built solution can save the most time and money.
Your new Servoy solution is based on industry standards (Java, JavaScript, XML, Web Services, SQL) -- there is no proprietary file format or scripting language to deal with -- so your investment is better protected, ensuring future scalability and flexibility. You can change database vendors, operating systems and client computers -- all without having to change your Servoy solution.

Your Servoy-based solution can resemble an existing solution in look and feel while adding dramatic new functionality -- so training is minimized. Because of the advanced user interface controls in Servoy, your solution can be designed to increase productivity by automating repetitive tasks and introducing "single click" functionality for multiple processes.
The Process
We know from experience that not all systems are created equal. In fact, most companies have systems that have been, at least in part, created by end-users (usually non-database professionals or content experts) who just couldn't wait for IS/IT to "get around" to their needs and took matters into their own hands.
While these systems typically started life as a "quick" fix for an immediate need, they often grow over time to become functionally mission-critical applications. Because these types of systems are typically created by end-users (and sometimes outside consultants) these suddenly "critical" systems usually aren't designed to handle the growing data requirements or user requirements.
Sometimes, when a solution is built in an easy-to-use desktop database product, the sheer number of records or complex reporting requirements alone can bring the system to its knees -- in terms of performance and productivity.
Here is another all-too-familiar scenario: The existing solution may perform well, but the original requirements have changed and there is a need to integrate data from external systems. This may be as simple as a daily "download" or as complex as full insertions, updates and deletes from the local system as well as the external data source.
Our Servoy Support team is flexible. We can work with you to analyze your current solution; gather requirements; and build a project specification that extends through the development, deployment and training phases. If you already have a specification, we can work with you to develop and deploy your new solution. If you have an in-house team of developers, we offer customized on-site or off-site training to get your developers up-to-speed -- in the least amount of time.
You tell us your needs and we're here to help - so you can focus on your business.
Costs
The next question is always - "Great, how much is this going to cost?" That's really impossible to answer in a generic way, since each custom solution has its own unique requirements and functionality. However, here are some guidelines:
If you are interested in having us develop the entire solution -- we bid jobs on a fixed-cost basis based on a specification. This approach ensures that you know what you will receive and what it will cost to get your solution developed.
If you want us to help you only with "the hard parts" of your solution, where you or your development/deployment team is "stuck" -- depending on the scope of the work -- we will either give you a fixed-bid or will work on an hourly retainer basis.
Custom training is quoted on a per-day and not per-student basis. Travel and lodging costs are billed in addition to the per-day training fee.
